Why we collect it
Your data is used for:
- Operating and running hosted live video events

- Displaying relevant details (such as name, age, area, and job if provided) to your date before you meet
- Sending event confirmations, reminders, and join links via SMS and email

Third parties
We share data with the following services to operate Hugo:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosting and database for core Hugo systems (UK/EU regions)
- Supabase — database and related services still used for parts of the live product, hosted on EU servers
- Loops — email notifications for event reminders & join links
- Twilio — SMS notifications for event reminders & join links
- Daily.co — live video during events (see below)
- Stripe — payment processing when you buy evening credits
- PostHog — product analytics (only after you accept cookies)
- Google Analytics — site analytics (only after you accept cookies)

Video and audio during events
Daily.co is the service that powers the live video dates. During an event, your camera and microphone streams, and the connection data needed to route them (such as your IP address and device information), are processed by Daily.co to deliver the video calls. We do not send Daily.co your name, contact details, date of birth, or profile — the connection you make is not linked to your identity on their systems. Your calls are not recorded.
How long we keep it
We keep your personal data while your Hugo account is active so you can stay on event lists and join evenings. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data on request, except where we need to keep limited records for safety, legal, or payment obligations.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
To exercise any of these rights, email hi@hugodate.co.
