Who this applies to

These terms apply to everyone who uses Hugo to join the list, confirm attendance, or attend a live video event. By completing sign-up, and by ticking the box on the join page before an event, you agree to them.

You must be 18 or over

Hugo events are for adults only. By joining, you confirm that you are 18 years of age or older. If we have reason to believe you are under 18, we'll remove you from the event.

Prohibited uses

You may not use Hugo for human trafficking, including sexual exploitation, or to aid, abet, or encourage abuse of any kind. These uses are strictly prohibited. Further detail on prohibited conduct and content is set out in our Acceptable Use Policy.

How to behave

Hugo is a space for genuine human connection. During video dates, you agree not to:

behave in a sexually explicit, threatening, or harassing way toward any other participant
use offensive, discriminatory, or abusive language
deliberately make another person feel unsafe or uncomfortable

If you wouldn't do it on a first date in public, don't do it here.

Removal from events

Hugo reserves the right to remove any participant from an event at any time, without notice, if we believe they are breaching these terms or otherwise undermining the experience for others. Where you paid with an evening credit, restore or refund follows our credits rules and is not guaranteed for conduct breaches. This decision is final.

Credits & payments

These terms apply to Hugo evening credits — the product you use to confirm and attend events. Credit packs and checkout are available on the credits page.

Hugo may offer evening credits that you can buy to confirm and attend events.

Packs are one-off purchases (no subscription and no auto-renewal). Current packs and prices are shown on the credits page when purchasing is available.
One credit is used for one evening you are invited to join (Group A with a join link).
When you confirm a spot, we place a soft hold on one available credit so it cannot be used for another event at the same time. If you unconfirm before your join link is sent, the hold is released and the credit returns to your wallet.
About 30 minutes before the event, if you are invited to join, the held credit becomes pending and you receive a join link. If you are not invited that week, the hold is released and the credit stays in your wallet.
Credits generally expire 12 months after purchase.
If something goes wrong on the night for reasons set out in our entitlement rules (for example a clear tech failure), you can ask us to restore a credit from your account within 24 hours. We usually restore credits rather than refund to your card. Cash refunds are at Hugo’s discretion.

Hugo may still remove you from an event for breach of these Terms. Misconduct removals are not an automatic right to a restored credit or refund.

Recording and monitoring

Hugo does not routinely record video sessions. In the event of a conduct report or safety complaint, Hugo may review available session data to investigate. By joining, you consent to this.

Other participants' privacy

Every person in a Hugo event has the right to privacy. You agree not to screenshot, record, or share the video, image, or personal information of any other participant — before, during, or after an event. This includes sharing match contact details with third parties.

What Hugo is responsible for

Hugo provides a platform that facilitates live video introductions between consenting adults. We are not responsible for the behaviour of individual participants during events. We do not guarantee that you will meet someone you like, form a connection, or go on a date as a result of attending. Use Hugo at your own discretion. To the extent permitted by law, Hugo's liability for any claim arising from your use of the platform is limited to the amount you paid to attend the relevant event.
