How to contact us
Lawful requests should be sent in writing to:
Please mark the subject line clearly, for example: “Law enforcement request — [case reference]”.
If legal@hugodate.co is not yet monitored for your organisation, use hi@hugodate.co and we will route the request appropriately.
What we need in a request
To assess and respond, please include:
- the requesting authority, officer name, badge/warrant number (or equivalent), and official contact details
- the legal basis for the request (for example a production order, warrant, or other lawful power)
- the case or investigation reference
- a clear description of the information sought and why it is needed
- identifiers that help us locate relevant records (for example email address, phone number, full name, approximate account dates, or event date)
- any deadline and whether the matter is time-critical for imminent harm
We may ask for additional verification before disclosing personal data.
What data we may hold
Depending on the account and event history, Hugo may hold information such as:
- account profile details provided at sign-up or in-account (for example name, email, phone, date of birth, preferences, and location area)
- event list, confirmation, attendance, and credit/payment related records
- operational logs needed to run the service
- safety or conduct reports submitted to us
Hugo does not routinely record live video or audio of dating sessions. Payment card data is processed by Stripe; video connectivity during events is provided by Daily.co. Those providers may hold related technical or payment records under their own policies.
How we respond
- We review requests promptly and in good faith.
- We disclose personal data only where we are satisfied there is a valid legal basis, or where UK law otherwise permits or requires disclosure (including where necessary to protect someone’s vital interests).
- We aim to provide only the data that is reasonably necessary for the stated purpose.
- Where legally permitted, we may notify the affected user of a request. We will not notify where notice is prohibited, would risk someone’s safety, or would prejudice an investigation.
- Emergency / imminent-harm requests should say so clearly. We will prioritise these and may disclose limited information where the law allows to prevent serious harm.
Preservation
If you need records preserved pending a formal order, email legal@hugodate.co (and copy hi@hugodate.co) with the relevant identifiers and legal basis. We will take reasonable steps to preserve available records for a limited period while a lawful request is progressed.
International requests
Hugo is a UK company. Requests from authorities outside the UK should be made through appropriate mutual legal assistance or other recognised channels, unless another lawful basis applies. We will assess such requests under applicable UK law.
User reports and safety
Users who need help with safety concerns on Hugo should email hi@hugodate.co. In an emergency, contact local emergency services first. See also our Acceptable Use Policy.
