What is Hugo?
Hugo is live video speed dating for London singles. On Sundays, users join hosted events from their phone and go on three or four 60-second one-on-one video dates. Mutual matches are revealed at the end with a phone number exchange. The entire experience takes under 10 minutes. There's no swiping, no profiles, and no messaging.
How it works
You sign up and confirm your spot for the next event. Sunday events start at 7pm. At the start, a live host welcomes everyone and explains how it all works. Then you're matched with your first date. For 60 seconds, you see and talk to each other on video while answering structured questions side-by-side — things like "Night out or night in?" and "Big groups or small circles?" Answers are revealed simultaneously so you can react together in real time.
After each date, you tap whether you'd want to match. You go on three dates total, and at the end, any mutual matches are revealed with phone numbers exchanged. No in-app messaging — matches go straight to real life.
Why Hugo exists
The only way to find out if someone is worth dating is to go on a date with them. But dating has become expensive — days of messaging, £30–80 on a first date, and you still don't know if there's chemistry until you meet. More swiping won't fix that.
Hugo gives you the date before the date. Live video, real people, revealing questions — so you only spend time and money on the ones worth meeting.
